split beech

due to Covid-19 we cannot have a packed traditional auction for a while :(

We will be holding an online auction on our own new website in October, actual date to be confirmed. ( our new site is currently under trial with a number of clients, in order to assess the feedback & make and necessary changes, before launching it)

In every 1200 lot auction in the past, we pretty much know what 900-1000 of the lots are going to make. Only 200 really need to be auctioned. These are the lots that are the most desireable, unusual, of exceptional quality for its type or simply ones that the auctioneer likes the most!  Our online auctions will therefore not be massive, but they will be full of quality, with most lots fresh to the market from clearances.

Our new temporary system offers the opportunity to attach multiple images, that can be expanded easily to view in more detail. There is ample description space and room for dimensions and full condition reports. Potential buyers can also request more information/ask a question about any lot. Auction lots will be available to view in the saleroom for at least 2 weeks prior to any auctions. All online bidders, will need to be registered and have a paddle number with our saleroom, they will then have to be set up to bid online. There will be no charges for existing clients to be set up online or bid other than our usual low 15% commission no vat on the final hammer price.  We have sold lots all over the country and internationally via our own marketing. There is no middle man, so no need to pay extra.

We have some fabulous lots for this next auction to include:

Late Victorian Funeral Bier, rustic coffin stands one  pair stamped 1900, pall bearers bars, coffin furniture, top hat, jacket. Body Bags & Stretcher etc

Military silver table cigarette box commemorating the marriage of Captn Muntz and all our research documentaion.

Argyle & Sutherland Officer's Sporren. of taxidermy badger construction with horsehair swinging six

Late C19th pendant chandelier. A superb mix of Arts & Crafts and Nouveau style, with the centre cylindrical section hammered and chased, adorned with flowing nouveau chandelier arms & a trio of arts & crafts shade suspension.  It really is gorgeous! Ceiling rose included. This will require rewiring. Was used withou shades, but would benefit from the careful selection of a set of 3 vaseline or cranberry shades to your taste.

Late C19th Arts & Crafts rise & fall ceiling lantern. of Moroccan influence with 4 original stained glass panels. Beautiful colours and great condition.

Late C19th Oak Coffer.  Of the type traditional to earlier coffer construction being of a 'six plank' type , except the front plank is tri-panelled with a strain front leg. An interesting combination of different period style, with good colour and patination. The split hinges have been sympathetically restored/part replaced (not aparant from the top) at least not replaced with strap hinges! Rear plank has a gnarly knotty grain and bogwood colouration. The front lock plate is slightly later but very much in keeping and not noticable to the untrained eye.

Georgian Oak fold over table with drawer. Of standard card table size, with a basic country oak finish on slightly tapered plain legs. Metal furniture in good order, some water marking from plant pots to the upper top (inner top has even colour) Minor upper surface restoration required. all joints sound.

Georgian Corner Cupboard, of oak and mahogany veneer construction, boxwood & ebony banded, astral glazed with an arched and tapered breakfront cornice. Clean and ready to go with key. Most probably the top of a full cupboard, but sits well and balanced wall mounted.

and lots more......period, midC20th, unusal, primitive & decorative lots!
