Mothers' Day - was it going to be a bad clash or dates or a lucky result? Well everything happens for a reason.... all the clients who came along on the Saturday viewing day and left bids, were disappointed that they couldn't attend due to booked lunches with their mothers. All I can say is 'thank the lord' they all couldn't attend as I seriously could not have fitted another person into the building without breaching H&S numbers. It took a packed saleroom to another level! At a time when online salerooms are sparse with attendees, Beech has certainly found its footing as a social hub in the south west auction world.
The rain meant the 350 outside lots were to be sold from inside via our large screen slideshow, follow by a further 450 lots on display inside the building.
The David Brown tractor achieved £950 (£150 over reserve), with ride on mowers, scaffold tower, horse box & trailers selling well on the day.
Our systems offers aftersales of unsold lots over the subsequent 2 days and this service achieves some further fabulous results for clients.
I just love the moments when a bustling social saleroom hushes to a pin drop level as an items sells exceptionally well.
Johann Maresch (1821-1914) joined Adolf Bahr as a commercial director. When Bahr passed away 1849, Maresch married the daughter & went into business with the widow. In 1873 his son Ferdinand joined the business and they extended the interiors range to include terracotta gnomes. Selling recently up to £1350 per piece!....these are rare collectors pieces! This green & red painted terracotta reclining gnome smoking a pipe, is a classic example of 1900 Maresch . with a smidge of pipe damage he could still butter your parsnips at a mere £100-250estimate **SOLD £680**

With guillotine clamps to ensure safety in the home, this cracking table carries a very low £100 reserve! **SOLD £260** Vendor was delighted as this piece is extremely large and therefore too big to handle for most trade & private buyers.
